This guided walk captures the heart and essence of the true Killarney experience and is one of the best Irish walking trails. The walk begins along the majestic shores of Killarney’s premier lake, Lough Leane, and follows in the footsteps of the renowned English Agriculturalist and Writer, Arthur Young. Who visited the Muckross Estate in the autumn of 1776 and stated with the Herbert’s of the Estate.
The walk will take in The Old Boathouse Trail along the lake shore to the rocky promontory at Dundag Point and continue on to the spectacular Torc Waterfall. From there your guide will give you a tour of the Muckross Estate Gardens, its history, constructions and development from the mid 1880’s to the present day. And finally a visit to Muckross Abbey, founded in 1448 by Donal McCarthy Mor, before returning to the Muckross Estate by The Monks Walk.
